What Hearing Aids Index is
Hearing Aids Index is an independent publishing website focused on hearing-aid buying decisions in the United States. The site publishes research-based guides, reviews and comparisons under the Hearing Aids Index name.
The work is document research: reading product pages, return policies, warranty terms, government guidance and relevant public records, then explaining what those sources establish and what remains uncertain. Our methodology describes that process and its limits.
What this site can and cannot do
Hearing Aids Index is not a clinic, hearing-care practice or hearing-aid seller. Its content is not a medical diagnosis or a personal treatment recommendation.
We do not:
- test your hearing or diagnose hearing loss,
- fit, program or adjust hearing aids,
- sell devices or handle orders, returns, refunds or repairs,
- claim clinical credentials, lab measurements or patient outcomes,
- claim hands-on experience with a device unless the page explains what was actually tested.
No current review is based on wearing or lab-testing the devices. Manufacturer performance claims, including battery life, are not independent measurements by this site. No current page has a licensed clinical reviewer credited to it.
For questions about your own hearing, consult a doctor, audiologist or licensed hearing-aid specialist.
What the site covers
Our guides focus on OTC hearing aids and practical questions to resolve before buying:
- whether OTC is an appropriate route to consider,
- whether a price is for one aid or a pair,
- what controls, phone requirements and setup help are described,
- what you could lose if you make an eligible return,
- what a warranty covers and excludes,
- which material terms are missing or conflicting.
Current guides discuss selected models from Oricle, MDHearing, Audien, Jabra Enhance and Sony, along with selected prescription-care examples. Inclusion is editorial coverage, not an endorsement of every model from a brand.
Limits of our coverage
Some guides discuss prescription care, clinic-based price examples, insurance or Medicare rules so you can compare buying routes. The site is not an exhaustive directory of hearing aids, clinics, insurers or repair services. It does not compare cochlear implants or recommend personal sound amplifiers as treatment for hearing loss.
A buying guide cannot predict how a particular device will sound, feel or perform for you. A documented return policy also does not prove how a seller will handle an individual refund.
How the site earns money
Some hearing-aid brands have affiliate programs that pay publishers when readers buy through their links. Hearing Aids Index may participate in those programs. We do not add a fee to your purchase; the seller sets the price and terms.
Commission availability must not determine our recommendations, their order or the treatment of material limitations. The affiliate disclosure lists current program states and explains how purchase links are marked.
Accountability and corrections
Hearing Aids Index is responsible for the information it publishes under its name. Our editorial policy explains updates, corrections, financial relationships and the limits of our health content.
If a figure or statement is wrong, use the contact form and choose “Report a correction.” Include the page address and, if possible, a primary-source link showing the issue. Do not send medical records or hearing-test results.
